Schedules for the meetings of the Governing Council and the General Council of the ECB and the related press conferences in 2001

The Governing Council has agreed that in the year 2001 its meetings shall continue to be held, as a rule, on alternate Thursdays. As in 2000, exceptions to this rule are envisaged in order to accommodate special holiday situations, namely with regard to Easter, Ascension Day and the summer holiday. As already agreed in 1999 beginning with 2000, two scheduled meetings each year will be held in a venue outside Germany, but within the euro area. In 2001 the Governing Council will meet on 15 March in Dublin and on 11 October in Vienna. These meetings will be hosted by the Central Bank of Ireland and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank respectively.

In addition, the General Council has agreed that the current practice concerning the General Council meetings is to be maintained, i.e. quarterly meetings shall be held on the same day as Governing Council meetings. The schedule for meetings of the General Council in 2001 is thus:
