ECB publishes book entitled “Central bank statistics as a servant of two separate mandates – price stability and mitigation of systemic risk”
The European Central Bank (ECB) is today publishing the proceedings of the Sixth ECB Conference on Statistics, entitled “Central bank statistics as a servant of two separate mandates – price stability and mitigation of systemic risk”, held on 17 and 18 April 2012 in Frankfurt. The volume contributes to the debate on future challenges for statistics, with a special focus on the growing need for statistics for financial stability and macro-prudential purposes. The potential use of multi-purpose and micro data collections was also emphasised at the conference. The book includes:
- the opening address by Mario Draghi, President of the ECB, and contributions by Vítor Constâncio, Vice-President of the ECB and by José Manuel González-Páramo, then member of the ECB’s Executive Board;
- the keynote speech by Andreas Dombret, member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank; and
- the final versions of the papers and summaries of the discussions in each conference session.
The series of biennial conferences on statistics held by the ECB provides an important forum for the exchange of views on the statistical requirements for central bank policy-making. The publication can be downloaded from the “Publications” section of the ECB’s website (http://www.ecb.europa.eu/pub). Printed copies will be available as of 24th August from the ECB’s Press and Information Division.
