Digital euro: listening to the public
A digital euro can only be successful if it meets the needs of Europeans
From 12 October 2020 until 12 January 2021 we ran a public consultation to collect views on the benefits and challenges of issuing a digital euro and on its possible design.
From October to December 2021 we also conducted focus groups in all euro area countries to gather views from different target audiences on their payment habits.
We are committed to involving the public in the development of a digital euro and these results will feed into the ongoing digital euro investigation phase, which is expected to conclude in October 2023.
